Following a staff nomination process and an all Firm meeting in May the team at Martin Tolhurst Solicitors have voted decisively for their new chosen charity and are delighted to announce Sands as their new charity partner.

The law firm based in the South East of England has five offices across the county on Kent, all of which will be supporting Sands in the coming year. Sands provides bereavement support services for anyone affected by baby loss with a network of around 100 regional support groups in the UK which are run on a voluntary basis by people who have themselves experienced the death of a baby. The groups exist to help bereaved parents and families for as long as they need it, through either regular support meetings, telephone support or email support.

The partnership will see the law firm’s staff take part in a variety of fundraising activities including, runs, dress down days, bake sales and more, to support bereaved families across Kent.

Hannah Sharp, a Martin Tolhurst employee, nominated Sands as it was very close to her heart and was instrumental in making the partnership happen.

Hannah said: “Thank you to everyone at Martin Tolhurst Solicitors who voted. Sands is a fantastic charity which provides help and support for bereaved parents and families across the Country, and I am grateful that our firm has chosen to help play a part in raising awareness around baby loss. My family has experienced first hand the work of Sands and they have been a great help. I was thrilled to discover my colleagues had chosen Sands as our charity of the year for 2019, and I cannot wait to get stuck in with whatever fundraising I can.”

Richard Carter, the Managing Partner at Martin Tolhurst Solicitors said, “We are looking forward to developing a close relationship with Sands over the next year as I know this charity means a lot to so many at the firm. The work Sands do for so many people who find themselves in such a difficult situation is really impressive.”

The company’s fundraising will help improve the bereavement care parents and families receive in hospital and local Sands Groups across the county.

Kerry Sloane, Community Fundraising Officer at Sands says “Sands is extremely grateful to all the employees at Martin Tolhurst Solicitors who will be fundraising for Sands. Their fantastic efforts will ensure we can continue to fund our important work and support anyone affected by the death of a baby.”’
