Martin Tolhurst Solicitors is pleased to announce an important partnership with THG (more:trees) ensuring thousands of extra trees will be planted each year.
Carbon dioxide is one of the biggest causes of climate change, which makes forests one of our greatest solutions.
Trees capture and absorb carbon dioxide from the air while releasing oxygen in its place. In addition, their size, root systems and long life span mean they can do this at scale - offsetting the emissions that cannot otherwise be reduced and helping towards improving our planet for generations to come.
Planting trees also brings numerous co-benefits, including shelter, water filtration, biodiversity and poverty alleviation. Climate change is harming our planet, but if we all make a small change, we can make a big impact.
That is why we have decided to partner with THG (more:trees). Martin Tolhurst Solicitors is committed to environmental sustainability and we recognise the house moving process adds to carbon footprint. From 1 November 2021 we will arrange to pay for and plant a tree to help offset this process on completion of each residential property transaction as our contribution towards reducing emissions. On completion we will provide our clients with an electronic certificate as confirmation this has been done. At the end of each month the trees will be purchased and planted through our partner THG (more:trees).
One tree offsets an estimated 0.3t of CO2 over its growth life, but that is far from its only benefit.
Nourishing our planet -
Trees clean the air, filter water, regulate rainfall, improve soil quality, offer shelter and reduce flooding.
Reducing extreme poverty -
Trees provide work, improve crop yield, generate income sources and help local economies.
Supporting biodiversity -
Trees support different species of animals, invertebrates, plants, fungi, lichens and mosses.
Reversing deforestation -
Trees help healthy forests re-emerge, restoring animal habitats, purifying water sources, replenishing soil, controlling flooding and improving weather patterns.
Our Green journey -
We are a proud member of the Legal Sustainability Alliance, an inclusive movement of law firms committed to working collaboratively to improve the environmental sustainability of our operations and activities. We also operate a number of sustainability schemes across our business, including a recycling scheme, a car-sharing scheme, a paper-light drive to reduce unnecessary printing and we are making sure all our office and cleaning supplies are sourced from environmentally responsible suppliers.
